License for Col Chris Hadfield to make a cover of "Space Oddity" was not revoked by Bowie

It was claimed that Bowie did not agree to a renewal of the 1 year license for Chris Hadfield’s cover of “Space Oddity” upon the initial year’s expiry.

According to this article, this has now been indicated to be a journalist error. The actual issue is that, according to the report, Bowie does not hold copyright ownership to the song, so even if he wanted to give Chris Hadfield permanent access, his own demand wouldn’t hold up unless the record company that produced the song consented to it.

I suppose his opinion of his prediction of Copyright becoming obsolete might still hold true.
