Unfscking Surveillance Capitalism

There’s a concept that is becoming better defined at present: ‘surveillance capitalism’. It seems to have been the logical end point of the advertising industry. IMHO it is THE strongest threat to privacy we have right now. What I haven’t yet figured out is a coherent policy response based on Pirate principles. It relates to an issue I’ve struggled with in the past - how should (privately-run) online services that are practically public infrastructure be treated from a policy standpoint?
