Electoral Funding

Are there any good reasons to support the current 4% of total vote cut off for electoral funding reimbursement?

  (1) Subject to this Division, $1.50 is payable for each first preference vote given for a candidate in a House of Representatives election.

  (2) Subject to this Division, $1.50 is payable for each first preference vote given for a candidate or group in a Senate election.

This was discussed in detail at the Pirate Congress 2015 and there was a resolution to support the position of abolishing the 4% threshold for receiving funding which carried unanimously.

This was also the vote that was overlooked in the initial post-Congress online voting period, which was voted on in the supplementary ballot which carried with near unanimity.

Cheers for linking that, I did a search through the policy page and didn’t find anything.
