German villagers have built their own broadband network

“Sick of slow download speeds, a village of 640 people has built their own fibre-optic network”: http://sciencealert.com.au/news/20140306-25610.html

I wonder how well this’d work in Australia, given the trainwreck the NBN seems to be turning into.

“where only 18 percent of the population has access to networks with speeds up 10 megabytes per second and above”

You reckon they mean bits or bytes? Haha.
