tl;dr: data retention, three strikes and internet censorship are making the copyright lobby very happy indeed.

I thought this was the go a while ago.

What more can we do to bring this to the attention of the wider public?

I wonder if an unflattering image may be drawn of lazy studios leaching upon a resource paid for by parties entirely disinterested in their pet issues. Maybe something along the lines of "You wouldn’t steal a car; but we’re happy to get rich mining your illegally stolen metadata…?
