The special religious instruction in Victorian schools is flat out indoctrination, telling kids anyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus is bad, giving the kids in religious instruction candy canes “shaped like the letter J, and J is for Jesus”, and so forth.
I reckon Jesus would’ve been furious.
